Fall Columbus Wedding at Retreat 21

A wedding venue where nature plays one of the main characters will always be a favorite of mine. M&A got married at Retreat 21 on a late October day. The trees were holding on to the last of their fall colors. The day was overcast which lent to some romantic and moody couple portraits.

Retreat 21 has so many levels to it, which make it an exceptional wedding venue option. It hosts a tap room at the front of the property and if they like, wedding couples are able to reserve the tap room for their rehearsal dinner. The property also has 8 cabins and 4 geodomes. Since they live out-of-state, most of the cabins were rented out by M&A’s friends and family for the weekend, including M&A, who stayed at the main waterfront cabin on the property. For other guests, the venue is located right in-between Marysville and Columbus, so the choices for accommodations is abundant.

The property has endless photo opportunities as well, especially in the fall. M&A’s first look took place outside the main waterfront cabin, in front of the pond on site. We then headed to a spot with some wide open fields in the background, lending to a feeling of the English countryside. We ended portraits close to the ceremony site, in the woods, to capture more of the autumn leaves. The outdoor ceremony spot in the fall is grand with the focal point being their extra large oak tree.

After photographing weddings for 10 years, I can’t emphasize enough the ease and flexibility of having the ceremony and reception in the same location. It makes your day that much easier, stress and care-free. So having accommodations on the venue property as well? Even better.
